I will give them 2 stars only because I'm sure they do a good job on spec homes, but for semi-custom homes (my experience) I would give them 1 star. Lots of mistakes that are costing us more money to fix during the building process. We've had to remodel a bathroom mid-build, return custom windows, and more! They took a long time too. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

As a home designer for 26 years I have worked with thousands of clients. Some requesting help with the design and others needing more of a drafting service. We strive here at DNW to be considerate of our clients needs and desires. When clients walk into our office we realize what they bring with them are the dreams and thoughts of something personal. The design process that you referred to was working, and yes, there are things that need to be addressed along the way. But that is what preliminaries do. It is simply the fleshing out of missing parts and things that needed more attention. When the drawings are finished, we coordinate with the engineer, trusses, flooring, storm water, and the like.

We heard that Design NW was a good place to have our custem home desinged at so we brought our house plans that we drew up on a drafting program to them to finalize the last 30%. We had a conversation with Gary, where he told us how HE would want the house to look. When we got the first draft back there were changes that we did not have in our original design, and parts missing. We requested the changes that we wanted and when we got the 2nd draft back there were still things that we did not like about the custom design. It was almost like the desinger was designing a house to HIS taste and not to our personal taste. We started asking around and soon relized that Design NW was charging us more then Double then what others would charge. We decided to cut our losses and go with someone else. The new designer is designing the house exactly how we want and is vary considerate of our wants and desires. They are designing the house, cordinating with structural, trusses and flooring engineers, storm water planning, and permit process for the same cost as Design NW was charging for just the design of the house. We are lossing $1200 to Design NW but we have learned a valuable lesson and will still come out ahead in the long run. I would Highly Highly recommend doing a little research before walking into Design NW offices to have your first appointment.

I interviewed several different top rated architects and designers in the area upon starting our project. I chose to work with Design NW because I felt confident that Gary had both design & architecture experience and wouldnt only create something beautiful, but also functional for my family. The high quality 3D viewing program was also a plus; you can actually SEE your home. (And it is so much better than just on paper!) I have appreciated the patience & understanding of Gary and Amy during the designing process of my dream home. I am incredibly picky, and needed to see several different options before I was confident in my forever decisions. I cant wait to see our home come to life!
